But the connoisseurs of Apple Cider still believe that the unpasteurized version of Apple Cider is the real one. In the late 90's there was an outbreak of E.Coli infection in unpasteurized Apple Cider, following which the US FDA got involved and introduced the HACCP controls in early 2000 and heat pasteurization became mandatory. This process does not occur in apple juice as it is pasteurized which destroys the yeast and prevents fermentation. Thus, basically the non-alcoholic beverage becomes alcoholic within a week. Apple cider when left untouched for about a week begins to undergo fermentation due to the natural yeast present in the apple itself. Apple cider is largely marketed in association with fall, and people love it (myself included). Apple Juice is a pasteurized form of Apple Cider. Keep reading to learn more about the difference between apple cider and apple juiceand speaking of health tips related to your favorite sips, read up on The 1 Drink for Faster Weight Loss. Basically both of them are non-alcoholic beverages, but as we would see later, apple cider has the tendency to turn into an alcoholic beverage! Apple cider is tangier and consists of freshly ground coarse particles in them, while apple juice is sweeter, clearer and a much filtered version of apple cider. Apple cider is made of a blend of many different varieties of apples, mashed together and the juice extracted by hard pressing them.Īpple juice is a more purified form of apple Cider. ![]() ![]() Generally the unfermented freshly expressed apple juice is known as Sweet Cider, while its fermented cousin is known as Hard Cider. Both Apple cider and Apple Juice are produced from apples ! But during the production period it is Apple Cider that is formed first. ![]() This, in turn, engendered even more respect for the field. In addition to aiding the performance community to see collaborative piano as a viable professional option, Moore and Sanders also paved the way for leading solo pianists to consider collaborating. Since then, close to a hundred collaborative piano degree programmes have been established in conservatoires throughout the world. Following the establishment of the first collaborative piano degree programme at the University of Southern California in 1947, he pushed to establish a masters degree in collaborative piano at the Juilliard School when he joined its faculty in 1963. Sanders didn’t stop at changing the accepted terminology. One of his lasting contributions to the field was coining the term ‘collaborative pianist’. This opened a whole new door.’įollowing Moore’s initial efforts, pianist Samuel Sanders, who collaborated with the likes of Yo-Yo Ma, Itzhak Perlman and Mstislav Rostropovich, continued the fight for more equal footing. He was such a fabulous pianist that they complied. Gerald Moore came along and insisted that he wouldn’t record anything unless he had his name on the label. ‘Pianists were hired into studios to make recordings with artists, and they didn’t even put the name of the pianist on the label. ‘Think way back to the early 1900s,’ says professor of collaborative piano at the Cleveland Institute Virginia Weckstrom. Gerald Moore with baritone Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau ![]() In the opening chapter, Moore admits that he used to think ‘the accompanist was a sort of caddie who carried the violinist’s fiddle… but after some years of work and experience I began to realise how important and interesting the musical life of an accompanist could and should be.’ Moore’s book The Unashamed Accompanist was published in 1943. Historic collaborationsĪn early champion for piano accompanists’ rights was English pianist Gerald Moore, who collaborated with such instrumentalists as Pablo Casals and Yehudi Menuhin. The result has brought about a new title – collaborative pianist – and a paradigm shift in the classical music world, which views pianists as equal partners rather than as subordinates. The word “accompanist” is a total mistake.’Īttitudes have begun to change in recent years, thanks to the pianists and other instrumentalists who have rallied together to eliminate the hierarchy implied by the term that has, well, accompanied pianists for so long. ‘A lot of the repertoire, like Beethoven and Mozart sonatas, is written for piano and violin. ‘It’s true: there’s no such thing as an accompanist,’ says Perlman. But some of the world’s leading classical musicians, including Itzhak Perlman (pictured), take offence at this misconception. Not good enough for solo careers, they are hired to perform a service: to obey their musical partner’s instructions without question. There has long been a stereotype in the performance community that accompanists are inferior musicians. Well, I was fully ready to pass these on to one of my sons or even just put them in the car to use as a second level "car bin". I expected the image to be a bit dim.and not quite as sharp.as a regular phase coated roof. Oops, did I forget to mention that? No, they are not phasecoated which, in my experience, usually means the image quality is lacking in several key areas that I look for, pun intended, in a binocular's optical performance. For $80 how good could they be optically. They came today and, truth be told, I did not have that high of an expectation for them. Having a full-sized 8x42 binocular in an 8x32 size range seems like the best of both worlds from my point of view. So, at this point, what is not to like? I always enjoyed the more compact nature of the 8x32 models but just never felt as comfortable viewing the image they provide because they just don't give my eyes as much room to roam around the image. I have seen these Zhumell models listed several places on the net in the $125 range but had them listed at a regular price of $90 and with the discount that price came down to around $80 with free shipping. Gone are the days where I will be sampling any of the high end European models.not to mention many of the upper midrange units. Money is not as easy to come by as it once was so I have to be very frugal with any optics purchases. They remind me quite a bit of one of the Minox models I remember seeing.HG maybe? The black and gray combination gives the binocular a very classy look. They are your basic black binocular with steel/gray accents (base of the eyecups, focusing knob). I have to admit that I was attracted to their styling. There are two big differences between these two models. I would not be surprised to find that these two bins come out of the same Chinese factory. I did own a pair very similar to them in the Eagle Optics Denali several years ago. Short and stubby is the best description of them considering they are a full-sized, 42 mm binocular. They are very comparable in length to many 8x32 models currently on the market. Their overall length is only 5.25 inches. You have to take a look at the pics to see what I am referring to. These are extremely compact, full sized binoculars.if that makes sense. Today, the expression yellow pages is used globally in both English-speaking and non-English speaking countries. Donnelley created the first official Yellow Pages directory. The name and concept of "yellow pages" came about in 1883, when a printer in Cheyenne, Wyoming, US working on a regular telephone directory, ran out of white paper and used yellow paper instead. However, in the United States, neither the name nor the logo was registered as trademarks by AT&T, and they are freely used by several publishers. In many countries, including Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and elsewhere, "Yellow Pages" (or any applicable local translations), as well as the "Walking Fingers" logo first introduced in the 1970s by the Bell System-era AT&T, are registered trademarks, though the owner varies from country to country, usually being held by the main national telephone company (or a subsidiary or spinoff thereof). The traditional term "yellow pages" is now also applied to online directories of businesses. The directories were originally printed on yellow paper, as opposed to white pages for non-commercial listings. The yellow pages are telephone directories of businesses, organized by category rather than alphabetically by business name, in which advertising is sold. ![]() Various (United States), Yell (United Kingdom) Bell Canada (Canada), Directories Philippines Corporation (Philippines) Various (United States), Yell (United Kingdom) Yellow Pages Group (Canada), Directories Philippines Corporation (Philippines) 2004 Yellow Pages for Auckland, New Zealand Please note that you need to run the program with elevated privileges as you may get access errors otherwise depending on the folders and files you select.Ĭompare loads all files and folders and displays them in the interface. ![]() According to Clausewitz, the interplay between the people (incorporating hate and violence), the armed forces (incorporating chance and probability), and the government (incorporating reason) is what makes the pure essence of war. Derived from this first trinity is a second trinity, which is represented by physical carriers of the emotional and intrinsic feelings of the first. This first trinity is, even in this case, timeless, though Clausewitz’s assessment basis for “policy” was distinct from what could be observed in modern-day scenarios or even in younger ancient empires such as that of the Romans. The third pillar is considered to be policy, which subordinates the first two pillars and makes them subject to reason. The second pillar is the interplay between chance and probability. The initial pillar of Clausewitz’s first trinity is a dialectic interplay between hate, primordial violence, and enmity. To maintain a clear distinction between the current perception of Clausewitz’s trinity and the one that will be presented in this article, the author will briefly depict the view that Clausewitz had when thinking about war. Absent any of these elements, and what you’re talking about is not war, but something else.” 3 Stemming from that approach, a logically consistent narrative has evolved that ranges from ancient times to today and argues that war, government, and the people together are inseparably intertwined to form Clausewitz’s famous trinity. Christopher Mewett writes, “War’s nature is violent, interactive, and fundamentally political. There is broad agreement among professional military philosophers and researchers that the nature of war can be applied without a specific reference in time. 2Īccording to Clausewitzian dogma, the battle between one and one’s enemy will encompass the main features of the nature of war. Although Clausewitz did not think about such modern weapons, they can all be included in the changing character of war since current mainstream research still emphasizes his definition of the nature of war. These tools range from the legionnaires of the Roman Empire, to the armed chivalry of the Medieval period, to contemporary mass armies that consist of infantry, aircraft, warships, and even nuclear weapons. The latter consists of features that can change over time, as they are predominantly the tools that are applied during armed conflict and therefore vary from period to period. The former is something immanent in war that differentiates war from other social phenomena and does not change over time. 1 One of the most cited philosophers of war, Clausewitz distinguished between the nature of war and the character of war. No other author has influenced the theory and perception of war like Prussian military theorist Carl von Clausewitz in his main work Vom Kriege ( On War). The Current Perception of War: Clausewitz’s Trinity Keywords: Carl von Clausewitz, Mesopotamia, Sargon of Akkade, theory of war Although many of Sargon’s groundbreaking military innovations-such as establishing a standing professional army, securing lines of communication and supplies, and fortifying strategic positions-can be analyzed in a purely descriptive way, the focus of this article will be on his constructed relation to the Akkadian pantheon, which had a direct influence on the way warmongering was perceived. The main method of inquiry herein will be a textual analysis of Akkadian scriptures that relate to the campaigns of Sargon, the first ruler of the Akkadian Empire, and his reign in constituting the first empire of humankind, as well as sources that explain the role of religion in this historical epoch. The author argues that Clausewitz’s analysis of war, which relies on the main trinity of the people, the government, and the armed forces, is not applicable to the beginning of human history in Mesopotamia due to the specific circumstances that societies then faced. Given the special place that the divine realm took in the Akkadian worldview, manifesting even in everyday interaction, the author reworks the well-renowned trinity from the Prussian military theorist Carl von Clausewitz. 2234–2154 BCE) through fragments and clay tablets that have remained from that period in history more than 4,000 years ago. Abstract: In this article, the author investigates the concept of “war” during the Akkadian period (ca. |
